Before I explain this week’s article, I would like to thank all of you readers whom read my previous articles; you are truly my inspiration.
O.K. let’s get down to business, in order for you to use the Cisco IOS “Router configuration” command named “variance” in an IPv6 network environment, your Cisco router(s) needs to be running Cisco IOS 12.4(6)T or higher.

Lance Winslow asked:
Rounding that last corner like a bat out of hell you hit the straight away in a full sprint, the pain is intense and you just focus on holding that stride, even increasing it. You can hear the other top runners with the same goal breathing down your neck ready to pass on the slightest inclination of weakness. Like wolves in a pack they can sense it. Time Stands Still.
You are one with the track, nothing else matters, the World disappears, the heat burning through your thin socks from the friction off the reslite track is blistering, but you cannot feel it yet. Once you stop that pain will be more than real, right now you are in it to win it and this slow motion feeling you will remember for the next 35 years. How would I know?
Recently a gentleman who is a Master Champion in the 400 meter emailed me; he runs an impressive 60 second quarter at Age 60! Giving the young men a little competition are we!!!! Excellent indeed. That is an incredible time for age sixty. He asked what times I ran in the 800-meter as he was considering changing races to the demon of all Track and Field events; The 800 Meter.
While looking for my old 800-meter work out schedule from college, I thought back to those glory days and told him that I would dig up one of my old running schedules, but seems to me it was:
Long Distance Run on Sundays 12-15 miles 220’s at race pace, 4 miles fast pace run, 6 miles slow on Monday, Quarters on Tuesday 110 jog or walk between. Distance on Wednesdays 110, 220, 440, 660, 660, 440, 220, 100 (walk or jog between) 4-sets. Then 5-mile jog, last mile hard, sprint between telephone poles every half-mile. Fridays easy, stretch, 220s, Saturdays Race Day.
Also note that I got to the point I was adding in a 3-mile run in the mornings and evenings on top of that every day. But we are talking HS Championship and attempting to keep up with the world class runners at College Invitationals. Gotta do it if you want to win. Now remember I was a miler for the most part.
So those distances and workouts were for the mile run. The 800-meter was to help the team with points, nearly killed me, ha ha ha. Yep, I do remember the pain. But I promised to look thru some of my old schedules, at different times and coaches we did different type workouts, lots of Fartlek or interval training.
It was great to talk with a fellow competitive runner, it has been a long time, but one never forgets. Well, I certainly hope this article is of interest and that is has propelled thought. The goal is simple; to help you in your quest to be the best in 2007. I thank you for reading my many articles on diverse subjects, which interest you.

Can you ever imagine a world without communication? Communication happens everywhere. Right from the mother earth to the animals, birds and humans, all communicate their messages in one form or another. Communication need not be in words or in a language. Any sound, data, form or character through which the message to be conveyed is transmitted is called a communication process. Today, human modes of communication have grown by leaps and bounds and hardly are it possible to set aside our mobiles or the internet. The whole human security today is based on the effective communication system like the command control systems used in the military.
What is a command control system? What are the significant features of this system? Global command and control systems are nothing but a collection of SOA systems. It was originally developed with the view to replace the worldwide military command and control system. It is used by US navy and Marine Corps, US army and Air force. Some significant features include intelligence analysis, combat operations support, radar and ground weapons analysis, targeting etc using the web services. It can also provide terrain and weather forecast. Further advance in this technology might enable chat, emails and newsgroups as well.
The command and control system uses IP based connectivity or NIPRNet, JWICS etc. this system can collect nearly 94 sources of different data’s. It is trusted as one of the best communication system for the enhanced security purposes. The nation’s safety lies in the performance of these control system as a slight fault might endanger the nation’s security. The data or message to be delivered must be confidential, fast and immediate. Thus an effective system which can provide all the three functions should be considered and the best. The military, air force and navy should also be able to co ordinate their action in times of war. So an effective system to combine and combat the three sectors is imperative.
High command officers always need to share high security messages or data. The quickest way to transmit these messages with minimal loss or theft is through the command control system. The system should be very strongly protected to face the threats from hackers and deadly viruses as the system uses the web services. It must provide accurate reports and the analysis should be true and dependable. If the chat and email options are provided then the communication within the army or navy is always open and inter connected for quick data or message transfer. It can easily identify the radar signals or the approaching security threat in no time. The message thus delivered will be very useful to protect the country and the people in it. The command and control system is thus dependable, reliable, trust worthy, highly rated for performance and can be used any where and every where. The communication systems are updated regularly and newer options and features are also introduced to keep in pace with the changing times.

Now that you’ve achieved a reliable “sit”, its time to start on the “down” command.
Clicker Training - “Down” Command
Now, this won’t be quite as easy as sit, but have patience it will come!
A good, solid “down” command is a really important thing for dogs to learn - think about when you’re out on a walk and he sees a cat something equally as enticing. Imagine if, when he started racing over to whatever it is, you shouted “DOWN”, and he actually stopped in his tracks and lay down. It really is one of the most important commands that we can teach. (It’s also the start move for lots of fun tricks that we can try later!!)
Put your dog in the sit position and crouch in front of him, leaving enough space between you for him to lie down. Let him know that you have a treat, put it in front of his nose and move it slowly towards the floor. If you move it too fast, he’ll stand up, so have patience! He may try to get the treat out of your hand, but don’t let him have it yet!!
As you move the treat down, he should follow it with his nose.
When the treat and his nose are on the floor, move it slowly (remember, slowly, or he’ll try to stand up!!) away from him, towards you.
Although he may not lie down at this stage, he should be clicked and treated for lowering his body, which should happen naturally when he follows the treat with his nose, whilst in the sit position.
As with the sit, we need to build this behaviour up. Become more selective with clicking and treating, waiting until his body is much closer to the floor, and eventually only clicking when he is lying down.
When he is lying down with reasonable regularity, we should introduce the command “down” *. As with the sit, we need to build up to only clicking and treating when he lies down on the verbal command.
*NOTE: I do not use my dog’s name before giving the “down” command. I give this command firmly and quickly and expect an instant response. Don’t use “lie down”, as this takes longer to say and can’t be said with the same urgency as “down”.
Continue to train the “down” command, whilst standing up instead of crouching, like we were at the beginning of the training.
When you first started training the “down” command, you were putting him in the “sit” position first. You should move on to practicing the command “down” without first asking him to sit. He may be confused at first because it is different to how he first learned, but persevere and he will work it out!
A good training exercise when he is lying down reliably, is to train him with the clicker, but only click when he lies down very quickly. This should reinforce a stronger, quicker down.
You both deserve a pat on the back when he understands and follows the “down” command, so well done!!
